Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, documenting medical histories, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
- Assist healthcare providers during procedures such as X-ray imaging, medication administration, and surgical interventions in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Manage patient intake processes efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to record accurate clinical data and ICD coding for diagnoses
- Support emergency medicine teams by providing urgent patient care, including basic life support (BLS) techniques and emergency response protocols
- Conduct routine laboratory tasks such as specimen collection and processing while adhering to safety standards
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and procedural notes to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with hospital staff across various departments including Geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), and Medical-Surgical units to facilitate seamless patient flow
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in diverse clinical environments such as dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, or urgent care centers
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration procedures
- Hands-on experience with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions including scheduling and patient correspondence
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or trauma center experience are highly desirable
- Inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred; familiarity with hospital protocols across various specialties such as Geriatrics or PICU is a plus
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as X-ray operation or venipuncture confidently while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on delivering compassionate patient service in outpatient or inpatient settings
