1. Job Summary
The Planning Coordinator supports manufacturing planning and scheduling by coordinating demand, supply, material availability, and production capacity so schedules remain realistic and customer commitments can be met. The role works closely with Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Logistics, Customer Service, and related functions to support on-time delivery, efficient inventory management, and smooth plant operations.
2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Coordinate daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, material availability, and capacity constraints.
· Review backlog, open orders, and production priorities to support an executable manufacturing plan.
· Create, release, and update work orders and related ERP/MRP transactions as schedules change.
· Communicate schedule changes, shortages, delivery risks, and priority shifts to Production, Purchasing, Logistics, and Customer Service.
· Monitor raw material and component availability and partner with Purchasing to help prevent supply interruptions.
· Track work-in-process, schedule adherence, and order status, escalating issues that could impact output or customer delivery dates.
· Support realistic promise dates by reviewing capacity, material, and inventory constraints.
· Maintain planning-related ERP/MRP data such as lead times, lot sizes, reorder settings, and other planning parameters, as assigned.
· Prepare and distribute planning reports, schedule updates, and KPI summaries for internal stakeholders.
· Participate in daily and weekly operations meetings to review bottlenecks, constraints, and recovery plans.
· Support new product introductions, product transitions, and related planning activities.
· Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to scheduling, inventory control, ERP usage, and planning processes.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills in a deadline-driven manufacturing setting.
· Clear communication and coordination skills across production, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.
· Analytical ability to interpret demand, schedule, inventory, and capacity data and act on planning risks.
· Attention to detail and accuracy in managing orders, schedules, and ERP transactions.
· Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adjust quickly when priorities change.

3. Qualifications
Minimal Qualifications include:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
· Experience in production planning, scheduling, expediting, materials coordination, or a related role in a manufacturing environment.
· Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems used for order management, inventory, and production planning.
· Strong Excel and data-handling skills, including the ability to analyze orders, inventory, and scheduling information.
· Understanding of manufacturing concepts such as lead times, capacity, BOMs, MRP, inventory control, and scheduling logic.
· Problem solving: Analytical, data-driven approach to identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
· Safety and compliance mindset: Deep commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards.
· Change management: Ability to support organizational change, introduce new processes or technologies, and drive adoption.
· Collaboration: Ability to partner with cross-functional teams including but not limited to Production, Quality, Supply Chain, New Production Development, and Master Data.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Process-oriented mindset with an interest in standardization and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications include:
· Experience in make-to-stock, make-to-order, or mixed-mode manufacturing environments.
· Exposure to sales and operations planning, master production scheduling, or inventory planning processes.
· Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods such as kanban or process optimization.
· APICS or ASCM coursework or CPIM certification is a plus.
4. Working Conditions
· Full-time, on-site individual contributor role at a manufacturing facility.
· Requires regular presence on the production and warehouse floors.
· Regular use of computers and ERP/MRP systems.
· May involve occasional travel to other company sites.
5. Physical and Ergonomic Requirements
· Capable of donning PPE, including frocks, hoods, masks, goggles, gloves, and respirators, for brief periods to oversee operational tasks
· Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
· Manual dexterity sufficient for typing and data entry.
