Production Shop Foreman / Quality Control Specialist

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Shop Foreman / Quality Control Specialist to lead technician development, improve production quality, and ensure every truck leaving our facility meets the highest company standards. The Production Shop Foreman will serve as a hands-on leader responsible for training technicians, supporting daily production needs, improving processes, and maintaining quality expectations across the shop floor.
The ideal Production Shop Foreman has a strong background in service truck upfitting, production environments, technician training, and quality control. This role requires someone who enjoys mentoring others, solving problems, and taking ownership of workflow improvements while remaining actively involved in daily shop operations.
Key Responsibilities - Production Shop Foreman
- Lead and support production operations as the Production Shop Foreman while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Train and mentor technicians by teaching company standards, supporting new hires, and providing ongoing technical guidance.
- Monitor technician performance, identify skill gaps, and recommend training improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workplace policies.
- Perform complete quality control inspections on finished trucks to verify accuracy, workmanship, and build completion.
- Complete QC-related repairs and coordinate technician-specific or longer-duration corrective actions.
- Prepare truck builds for final stages, including:
- Decal installation
- Programming
- Spring shop work
- Final production requirements
- Pre-QC completion checks
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality Control, Sales, and Parts departments to resolve issues and improve workflow.
- Assist with developing standard build procedures, improving Build Kits, reducing errors, and minimizing rework.
- Provide flexible shop support by assisting at workstations and supporting production needs when required.
- Identify potential quality concerns, production risks, and process improvements before issues impact final builds.
- Maintain strong floor presence by engaging with technicians, answering questions, and building team trust through hands-on leadership.
- Support Production Management with onboarding, scheduling, planning, training initiatives, and daily operational needs.
- Step into leadership responsibilities when needed to maintain production goals.
- Maintain effective communication by reviewing updates, responding promptly, and ensuring team alignment.
Required Qualifications - Production Shop Foreman
- 5+ years of experience in technician training, quality control, production leadership, or related shop operations.
- 5+ years of experience with service truck upfitting or similar mechanical production environments.
- Previous experience as a Production Shop Foreman, Production Lead, Lead Technician, Shop Lead, or similar leadership position preferred.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality standards, and technician development.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Build sheets
- PSTs
- Technical documentation
- Production instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize production needs.
Preferred Skills - Production Shop Foreman
- Experience leading technicians in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.
- Background performing quality inspections and process improvements.
- Ability to train employees and develop consistent shop procedures.
