JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high-quality, mission-driven programming across membership, youth and family, and healthy living areas. This role ensures programs align with YMCA strategic priorities and quality standards while fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment that strengthens member engagement and community impact. The Program Coordinator collaborates across departments to assess community needs, manage logistics and budgets, support staff and volunteers, and monitor program performance to drive continuous improvement, participation growth, and member retention in support of the YMCA’s mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):

Direct and supervise program activities in membership, healthy living, and youth development to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives (General areas: group x studio scheduling/marketing, membership desk, Play and Learn scheduling).

Recruit, hire, train staff and develop schedules.

Direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Maintains programs and enhance existing and develop new programs in the community according to strategic operating plans.

Assist in marketing and distribution of program (membership) information.

Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives and purchase equipment and supplies as needed with director approval.

Coordinates use of facility for programs and events.

Assists in YMCA fundraising campaign; takes a leadership role in raising funds for the annual giving campaign.

Models’ relationship building skills (including listen first) in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Assists in meetings.

Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse.

Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff.

Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements.
Required:

Must be 18 years of age.

High School diploma or equivalent required; College coursework preferred.

CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen Administration Certifications (will be provided upon employment).

Excellent customer service skills.

Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

Ability to work with participants of varying experience and skills levels.
