Clinica Esperanza/ Hope Clinic is a 501c3 nonprofit free health care clinic that has been providing care to uninsured Rhode Islanders since 2007. We are currently seeking a Community Health Worker/ Program Coordinator to join our growing team.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of a supervisor, the Medical Assistant will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of the clinic running smoothly and efficiently. Medical assistant will also perform tasks assigned by providers and supervisors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintaining cleanliness of the clinic.
2. Delegating tasks to volunteers in order to maintain smooth and efficient clinic operations.
3. Answering and directing phone calls.
4. Assist with the enrollment of patients into various clinic programs and completion of required forms.
5. Provide point of care testing as needed.
6. Assist with patient intake.
7. Assist with scheduling patient appointments and referrals.
8. Assist with creating monthly calendars of various clinical activities.
9. Document thoroughly and immediately after each patient encounter.
10. Provide interpreting services as needed.
11. Follow up with patients personally or by phone call.
12. Flexibility of responsibilities to help grant-funded activities proceed optimally.
13. Participate in community events, such as health fairs, as needed.
14. Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion.
15. Follow all clinic protocols and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. A broad knowledge base of the community being served
2. Knowledge of specific health issues, and health and social service systems are required.
3. Good communication and listening skills are essential
4. Organizational skills, service coordination, and interpersonal skills are required
5. Problem solving skills and perseverance as well as assertiveness and strong advocacy abilities are essential
6. Ability to teach and present information to both individuals and groups.
7. A strong level of commitment and desire to help the community and individuals, persistence, honesty, open-mindedness, and a friendly and outgoing personality.
8. Commitment to education and increasing knowledge base necessary.
9. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft office products necessary.
10. Become competent in eClinicalworks.
11. Bi-lingual required.
The ideal candidate is bilingual strongly preferred (English/ Spanish), team player, great listener, has strong organizational skills, basic computer and office knowledge, great critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, comfortable presenting to groups, and self-starter work style.
Requirements:
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination.
Community Health Worker certification preferred.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Our mission is to provide culturally attuned and linguistically appropriate medical care and preventative health services to the uninsured of Rhode Island. The clinic’s vision is: (1) to reduce health disparities; (2) to engage in healthcare workforce development; and (3) to improve health self-efficacy in our community. CEHC serves a large population in Rhode Island that is very vulnerable to health disparities because they lack access to healthcare. We address this vulnerability by providing walk-in patient services and health screens in community-based outreach sites.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
