This role supports the health and wellness of visually impaired students by ensuring facilities meet high cleanliness and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs general custodial duties, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies. Performs routine maintenance of custodial equipment. Empties trash and ensures proper disposal. Unlocks and locks doors as required. Reports maintenance needs and supply levels for appropriate staff. Ensures proper use and care of equipment and promotes workplace safety. Assists in training new staff. Perform cleaning tasks based on facility needs and seasonal requirements. Provides access to vendors and reports issues to supervisors. Assists with snow removal and minor maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and adjusting furniture. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment. Understanding of custodial safety practices, including lifting techniques and chemical handling. Familiarity with sanitation standards in institutional environments. Awareness of working in an educational setting with visually impaired students.
Skills:
Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and floor scrubbers. Strong attention to detail and consistency in maintaining cleanliness. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks independently. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow instructions and maintain routine records. Demonstrates reliability and a strong work ethic.

Additional Information:
Selected applicants must verify experience and the highest degree held. TSB is a non-smoking facility. Compliance with the State of Tennessee Employee Drug-Free Workplace Policy is required.
Background Verification:
Selected applicants must pass TBI/FBI background checks and fingerprinting, including criminal history, child abuse records, employment verification, and reference checks. Any discrepancies will result in disqualification.
Shift:
Second shift 2 pm - 11 pm Monday - Friday.
Minimum Qualification:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; no previous experience required.
