The Vibe
At Vibrant Coffeehouse + Kitchen, we’re in the relationship business and just happen to sell incredible coffee and great food. We’re all about creating genuine connections and bringing our community together, one cup at a time.
At Vibrant, we take pride in building an atmosphere designed to bring out the best in everyone who walks through our doors. When you join our team, you aren’t just an "employee"; you’re a partner in our shared success. It is a rewarding experience to work where people truly believe in themselves and make a difference. Money isn’t everything, if you’re unappreciated and miserable at work.
Your mission? As a Shift Supervisor, You’re the heartbeat of the shop. Whether the line is out the door or the kitchen is in a lunch rush, you’re the go-to leader who keeps the energy high, the espresso flowing, and the team on point. You aren’t just "managing a shift" - you’re coaching a crew and crafting a top-tier guest experience.
The Persona: Who You Are
We aren’t just looking for a "boss"; we’re looking for a Culture Catalyst.
- The Calm in the Storm: You stay cool when it’s slammed and keep the team from spiraling.
- The Social Architect: You remember regulars' names and notice when a teammate needs a 5-minute breather.
- The Craft Obsessive: You take pride in a perfect latte art pour and a beautifully plated sandwich.
- The Growth Mindset: You’re a quick study who wants to understand the "how" and "why" of the business.
- Natural Director: You know how to guide a team and delegate tasks without being "bossy"—you inspire people to move with purpose.
- Pro Communicator: You’re great at talking to people—whether it’s a teammate, a regular, or a first-time guest.
- Team Player: You’re all about building relationships and making the shop a place where people actually want to work.
What’s In It for You (The Gain)
We know you’re looking for more than just a paycheck. Here is how this role levels you up:
- Real Money: Competitive pay plus daily tips (yes, they add up!).
- Creative Input: A voice in our daily specials, signage, and social media content.
- Entrepreneurial Skills: Learn to run a high-volume business and make decisions under pressure.
- A Real Community: You’ll be part of a multi-location team across Illinois and Iowa, building a professional network of like-minded, ambitious people.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the Floor: Lead opening/closing procedures and ensure all checklists are 100% complete.
- Direct the Flow: Assign tasks, manage breaks, and jump in where needed (Bar or Kitchen).
- Quality Control: Oversee food prep (sandwiches, salads, bakery) and drink builds to ensure they meet our standards.
- Problem Solve: Act as the lead when the manager is out—handling guest feedback and tech issues like a pro.
- Business Basics: Balance cash drawers, update POS/signage, and log kitchen waste/invoices.
- Behind the Scenes: Handle the "brain work"—balancing cash drawers, updating the POS/signage with daily specials, and logging kitchen waste or invoices to keep our inventory tight.
- Train & Level Up: Onboard new teammates and mentor them on everything from steaming perfect milk to safe knife skills, food assembly, and kitchen safety.
What You Bring to the Table (Basic Qualifications)
- Track Record: 6+ months of fast-paced customer service + 6+ months of leading/coordinating a team of 2 or more.
- Flexibility: Available for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Can open or close at least 4 days a week.
- Reliability: You show up on time, every time (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- The Skill set: You can prep hot/cold dishes and craft specialty drinks to recipe—and coach others to do the same.
- The Basics: Strong math/cash handling skills, effective communication, and the stamina to be on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
