JOB TITLE: Auto Mechanic
DEPARTMENT: Cloakworks 4X4
POSITION TYPE: Hourly
COMPENSATION: $25.00-$35.00
JOB SUMMARY: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and ability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Checks the progress of each repair order throughout the day.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks.
- Road tests vehicles to quality-check work performed.
- Accounts for all documents; ensures that all are present and processed correctly.
- Establishes customer follow-up program to confirm satisfaction with service experience.
- Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Maintains a safe work environment.
BASIC SKILLS:
- Able to perform basic math (addition and subtraction).
- Able to problem-solve and/or troubleshoot situational challenges.
- Able to interpret oral and documented instruction.
- Exceptional mechanical skills and hand coordination, with minimal assistance needed.
- Being detail-oriented is a must.
- Critical thinking skills are required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to lift 75 pounds.
- Able to stand and walk for 2–3-hour intervals.
- Able to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise.
- Able to use hands and fingers for product handling.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Prefer experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Excellent Computer, communication, and training skills.
- Prefer experience re-gearing vehicles.
- Experience with 4X4/off-road builds preferred.
- Professional toolbox and tools recommended.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4 years minimum employment as an auto mechanic in a repair shop.
- Initial probationary week during which candidates' skill sets are assessed.
- A background check will be conducted following a conditional offer of employment, in accordance with California law.
