LCS Job Description- Social Studies Teacher
Lebanon Christian Schools Secondary Building is seeking a full‑time Social Studies Teacher (grades 6–12) for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate partners with our students, parents, colleagues, and administration aligned to the Lebanon Christian Schools’ mission to provide a Christ‑centered education through a biblical worldview, which helps students apply biblical principles as they study the people, places, and events that have shaped the world. Rooted in the school’s vision of pursuing academic excellence and developing highly skilled Christian leaders who can affect their world for Christ, the Social Studies Department equips students to recognize God’s sovereignty over history and to act with gratitude, discernment, empathy, and justice in their communities and culture. Teachers use primarily BJUPress curricula as the core text resource for all LCS social studies courses.
The teacher will facilitate and support classroom instruction, discussion, assessments, research, and projects built around the primarily BJUPress curricula and other, high quality supplemental materials that help students think critically and act responsibly while studying history, geography, government, and culture, in alignment with the school’s core values of Christ‑centered living, academic excellence, servant leadership, and faithful service.
General Responsibilities
As a professional educator at Lebanon Christian Schools, the teacher will:
- Demonstrate alignment with and commitment to the school’s mission, vision, core values, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Maintain valid Ohio licensure
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians, colleagues, and administration, including student progress updates
- Participate in school-sponsored professional development
- Fulfill all teaching duties as assigned by the principal
- Attend required faculty and staff meetings
- Collaborate with faculty and administration on school-related activities and initiatives
- Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview throughout instruction
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records
- Provide a safe, orderly, and secure classroom environment
- Maintain confidentiality and professional discretion regarding students, staff, and school matters
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or designee

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Ohio teaching license (Middle Childhood 4–9 or Adolescence to Young Adult 7–12) in Social Studies or a related field
- Experience teaching adolescents in a secondary setting preferred
- Two to three years of teaching experience preferred
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Willingness to learn and integrate new technologies and instructional tools
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Successful completion of BCI and FBI background checks
- Alternative qualifications may be considered by the Principal or Head of School

Working Conditions
- Frequent interaction with adolescents and teens
- Regular classroom-based instruction and supervision
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting of instructional materials
- Occasional movement throughout the building for meetings, duty assignments, professional development days, work days, or school events
- Occasional evening or special-event commitments
- Potential exposure to loud environments during assemblies, transitions, or school activities
