First Grade Teacher Chicod School
Position Summary
Chicod School is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered educator to join our outstanding first-grade team. The teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and student success.
The ideal candidate is committed to collaboration, data-driven instruction, strong relationships with students and families, and continuous professional growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction and Student Learning

Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all learners.

Utilize research-based instructional strategies and technology to increase student engagement and achievement.

Analyze student data to monitor progress, provide targeted interventions, and adjust instruction accordingly.

Maintain accurate student records, grades, and assessment data.
Classroom Environment

Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported.

Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior while implementing school-wide PBIS expectations.

Foster student independence, collaboration, and a love of learning.
Collaboration

Actively participate in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) by analyzing data, planning instruction, and developing interventions and enrichment opportunities.

Collaborate with instructional coaches, specialists, interventionists, and support staff to meet student needs.

Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Professional Responsibilities

Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.

Maintain confidentiality and uphold all district policies and professional standards.

Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

North Carolina teaching license in Elementary Education or eligibility for North Carolina licensure.

Strong knowledge of effective instructional practices, classroom management, and assessment.

Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
