As a community-supported ministry, we partner with churches, organizations, volunteers, and local communities throughout Bend and Central Oregon to serve individuals experiencing homelessness.
The Overnight Safety Monitor plays a vital role in maintaining a welcoming, secure, and orderly environment for participants, staff, volunteers, and neighbors.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Emergency Services and Director of Navigation Services, and directly supervised by Lead and Safety Coordinators, the Overnight Safety Monitor is responsible for:
- Creating a welcoming, safe environment where participants can access overnight shelter, meals, and services
- Conducting thorough and hospitable overnight intake and First Stay Registration
- Maintaining safety and security of individuals and property through active monitoring, patrolling, engagement, and coordination with staff and law enforcement when necessary
- Using trauma-informed, de-escalation practices to address safety concerns with clarity, firmness, and compassion
- Guiding participant conduct in alignment with Relational Agreements, Good Neighbor Agreements, Prohibited Items policies, Pet Policies, Grounds for Separation, and related procedures
- Modeling expected standards of conduct
- Providing ancillary services including meals, hygiene items, clothing, and first aid supplies
- Maintaining clean, sanitary, and orderly conditions in dorms, food service areas, storage spaces, and guest storage totes
- Preparing Guest Incident Reports and required documentation
- Staying informed regarding individuals restricted from property access through meetings, reports, and team communication
- Communicating safety-related information with contracted security during shift changes and overnight
- Protecting relationships with community neighbors and maintaining neighborhood cleanliness and order
- Completing required staff trainings
- Performing administrative duties including payroll systems, email and document software use, and maintaining file integrity
- Carrying out additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff
Hours: 36-48 hours weekly, some OT will occur
