Cook Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality meals in accordance with standardized recipes, food safety regulations, and production schedules. This role ensures meals are prepared accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. The Cook works collaboratively with the kitchen team to support daily meal production for schools, catering events, and other food service operations, while upholding TGK Hospitality's commitment to quality, consistency, and exceptional customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook breakfast and/or lunch meals according to daily menus
- Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines
- Ensure all meals meet USDA/CACFP requirements
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe guidelines preferred)
- Maintain proper food temperatures and complete required logs
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food (FIFO)
- Comply with all local health department regulations
Kitchen Operations
- Assist with daily kitchen setup and breakdown
- Keep kitchen and work areas clean and organized
- Support inventory tracking and notify management of shortages
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries as needed
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with kitchen staff, drivers, and school personnel
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate any issues, shortages, or concerns promptly
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred
- Experience in a school or high-volume kitchen is a plus
- Knowledge of USDA/CACFP guidelines (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to follow recipes and production schedules
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday (school schedule)
- Early morning start times may be required
- Hours may vary based on meal service needs
