OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled dispatcher to join our dynamic team at Hampton Roads Crane & Rigging. The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily equipment scheduling, managing operator assignments, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of cranes, trucks, and crews to job sites. This role serves as a critical link between customers, field personnel, and management to maintain service reliability and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and dispatch cranes, rigging crews, and support vehicles to various job sites based on project timelines and equipment availability
- Communicate with customers, operators, and project managers to confirm job details and logistics
- Monitor job progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays or changes
- Maintain detailed records of dispatch activity, equipment hours, and operator assignments
- Confirm all job requirements, permits, and lift plans are current and in place prior to dispatch
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards
- Coordinate shipping and receiving of equipment and materials at the yard, including load-outs, deliveries, and equipment returns
- Assist with equipment tracking, maintenance coordination, and job costing support as needed
Qualifications:
- Prior dispatch or logistics experience (crane or heavy equipment industry preferred)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Excellent phone and interpersonal skills for communicating with customers, operators, and vendors
- Proficiency with dispatch software, Microsoft Office, and GPS tracking systems (preferred but not required)
- Accurate and detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and tasks.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
