We are seeking a highly detailed Litigation Assistant / Paralegal with extensive, hands-on court filing experience. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of our firm's electronic and physical filing workflows across local, state, and federal jurisdictions. This role requires expert navigation of local court rules, procedural requirements, and strict deadline management.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Filings: Prepare, assemble, and execute high-volume electronic and physical court filings.
- Jurisdictional Portals: Manage complex submissions through Cook County portals, Illinois state systems, and federal PACER/CM-ECF.
- Document Compliance: Format, caption, check citations, and redact pleadings, motions, and briefs to comply with specific local rules.
- Docketing & Calendaring: Calculate legal deadlines, maintain the firm’s master litigation calendar, and track scheduling orders.
- Court Communications: Serve as the primary point of contact for court clerks, judicial assistants, and opposing counsel.
- Case Maintenance: Organize physical and electronic case files, index discovery materials, and compile trial notebooks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 2–4 years of dedicated litigation experience with a heavy focus on court filing.
- Tech Savvy: Mastery of CM/ECF (PACER), state e-filing portals, and Adobe Acrobat Pro for legal redacting/bates-stamping.
- Rule Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Illinois Supreme Court Rules, Cook County Local Rules, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Precision: Exceptional attention to detail regarding court formatting, margins, signature blocks, and exhibit attachments.
- Pressure Management: Proven ability to meet strict, same-day deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
