CNC Machinist
CNC Machinist
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision, complex parts. The role supports product development and production for high-reliability industries (including medical devices), ensuring parts meet tight tolerances, GD&T callouts, and applicable ISO quality standards. The ideal candidate is experienced with multi-axis equipment, CAM/GCode programming, specialty alloys, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
-
Program CNC machines using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360) and edit or write GCode for mills and lathes.
-
Set up and operate 3, 4 and 5axis CNC mills and multiaxis lathes (Fanuc, Haas and similar controls).
-
Produce complex parts from stainless steel, titanium, cobalt chrome, aluminum, steel and other specialty alloys to precise tolerances.
-
Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T callouts; verify critical dimensions using precision measuring tools and CMM inspection as required.
-
Perform first article inspections, inprocess checks, and final inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and document results.
-
Collaborate with engineers and product development teams to optimize part designs for manufacturability and cost effective machining strategies.
-
Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust tooling and programs, and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and throughput.
-
Maintain machine setup sheets, tooling lists, work instructions and production documentation in compliance with ISO requirements (ISO 13485 preferred).
-
Perform routine maintenance and preventive care on CNC equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.
-
Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce cycle time, scrap and tooling costs while improving efficiency and part quality.
Qualifications

3+ years of handson CNC machining experience; experience with both mills and lathes required.
-
Proven experience programming and operating 3, 4 and 5axis CNC equipment and multiaxis machines.
-
Proficiency with CAM systems (Mastercam, Fusion 360 or equivalent) and strong working knowledge of GCode.
-
Solid understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading and precision machining practices.
-
Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, cobalt chrome, aluminum, steel and other specialty alloys.
-
Familiarity with Fanuc and Haas control platforms and machine setup procedures.
-
Experience in medical device manufacturing and knowledge of ISO 13485 or other regulated quality systems is highly desirable.
-
Strong CNC machine setup skills, fixturing knowledge and tooling selection experience.
-
Handson experience with inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges) and CMM or other metrology equipment.
-
Working knowledge of CAD, troubleshooting, process optimization and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
