Duties
- Prepare ingredients through slicing, dicing, chopping, and portioning using proper knife techniques and slicing methods to ensure consistency and quality.
- Assist in menu planning by preparing components for daily specials or standard menu items, supporting the culinary team’s creative efforts.
- Cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and safety standards in a timely manner, maintaining proper food handling procedures.
- Support food safety standards in production by adhering to sanitation protocols, temperature controls, and proper storage practices.
- Set up and maintain workstations with necessary tools and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours.
- Assist with food service activities such as plating dishes, garnishing plates, and supporting catering or large event meal preparations.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including equipment sanitation, waste disposal, and ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food industry setting is highly preferred, especially in roles involving food preparation or cooking.
- Dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with food handling standards specific to healthcare or institutional environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards in production environments and food handling procedures is essential for maintaining high-quality service.
- Proven skills in culinary techniques such as slicing, chopping, and meal preparation are necessary to succeed in this role.
