Job Description
JENNMAR Services, a staffing company specializing in employee placement for the energy industry, is currently seeking a Coal Mining Engineer for West Elk Mine in Somerset, Colorado. This is a full-time position offering competitive salary and benefits.
Basic Job Duties for Coal Mining Engineer:
- Provide surface and underground engineering project design, management, and technical support to the mine.
- Provide engineering support for conveyance systems.
- Provide engineering support for ventilation systems.
- Provide engineering support for drilling projects.
- Assist with mine planning and related engineering activities.
- Provide engineering support for surface construction projects, including buildings, roads, and stormwater structures.
- Assist with refuse pile management.
- Ensure engineering projects comply with applicable federal, state, and environmental regulations, safety protocols, and permitting requirements.
- Coordinate and work with survey crews as required.
- Prepare project budgets and cost analyses.
- Provide technical assistance and support for underground mining operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements for Coal Mining Engineer:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with mine operations, engineering, and survey personnel.
- Knowledge of underground mining operations and engineering principles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Physical Requirements for Coal Mining Engineer:
- Ability to work in both underground and surface mining environments.
- Ability to walk and work on uneven surfaces and in varying mine conditions.
- Ability to work in areas requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment and materials as required.
- Ability to work underground for extended periods of time.

All duties and responsibilities must be conducted in a safe, clean and productive manner. It is a requirement to comply with all Health and Safety requirements established by JENNMAR Services and West Elk Mine.
Schedule:
- Full-Time
- Schedule as assigned based on mine operations and project requirements.
Compensation of the Coal Mining Engineer:
- $71,589 - $107,383 annually
- Salaried Exempt (EX) 04
