Mid Atlantic Utility Locating (MAUL) is seeking a Utility Locator - Utility Designator responsible for identifying, locating, and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role is critical in preventing damage to infrastructure such as water, gas, electric, sewer, and telecommunications lines.
Core Responsibilities
- Locate and Mark Utilities: Use magnetic, radar, and electrical locating equipment to find underground lines, then mark them with paint, flags, or other indicators
- Interpret Maps and Drawings: Read and interpret utility record drawings, quarter-section maps, and plats to determine line locations
- Prepare Reports: Compile data, diagrams, and sketches into professional reports for project teams
- Safety Compliance: Establish safe work zones, follow traffic control procedures, and use appropriate safety equipment
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- 2-3 years’ proven experience as a service technician involving utility locating
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Excellent communication skills
- Must possess a clean driving record
Field work being performed will involve walking, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching on various jobs sites which will include constructions sites and active roadways.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
