About Bridgton School House
Bridgton School House is a new micro-school opening in Bridgton, Maine. We are seeking a thoughtful and engaged Assistant Educator to support our Lower Elementary classroom serving children ages 6–9.
Our approach is Montessori-aligned and child-centered, emphasizing hands-on learning, independence, curiosity, and strong relationships. The program allows educators flexibility to follow the child while maintaining thoughtful structure and intention.
This is a foundational (“pioneer”) role for someone who is excited to help build a school community from the ground up and contribute to the daily rhythm and environment of a new learning space.
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Educator in guiding a mixed-age classroom of children ages 6–9
- Assist with preparing and maintaining a thoughtful, well-organized learning environment
- Support children during lessons, work cycles, and classroom activities
- Encourage independence, curiosity, and respectful interactions among students
- Observe and assist with children’s academic, social, and emotional development
- Help maintain classroom materials and organization
- Contribute to the daily routines and overall classroom culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred
- Experience working with young children preferred
- Interest in Montessori education or child-centered learning environments
- Montessori training is preferred but not required; candidates should be willing to pursue Montessori training as the program develops
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Patient, attentive, and respectful approach to working with children
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small-school environment
