The Electrician Foreman is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and executing electrical projects from the ground up, with a primary focus on non-recurring Time and Materials (T&M) work. The Foreman ensures that all installations, repairs, and maintenance of electrical systems strictly comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable California state and local regulations. Operating with a high degree of independence, the Foreman manages field personnel, assists with scheduling executive management, resolves on-site issues, and ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders. The Foreman is central to delivering the quality, safety, and operational excellence that define SASS Electric Inc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following.
· Project Leadership & Execution: Manage electrical projects from inception to completion, focusing on ground-up installations and non-recurring T&M work. Ensure all work meets quality standards and client specifications.
· Personnel Management: Supervise, train, and guide Journeymen, Apprentices, and Electrician I/II staff on job sites. Handle on-site personnel issues, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a positive, productive team environment.
· Scheduling & Coordination: Executes daily and weekly project schedules. Coordinate labor under the direction of executive management, materials, and equipment to ensure optimal productivity and minimize downtime.
· Communication to Stakeholders: Responsible for communicating to project and client stakeholders on job status, change orders, and overall site work conditions with completion progress and personnel/equipment job needs.
· Installation & Maintenance: Oversee and participate in the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of all electrical distribution systems and associated equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial settings in compliance with the NEC and California Title 24 electrical standards.
· Blueprint Reading & Planning: Inspect and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to plan and execute electrical installations accurately and efficiently. Identify potential issues early and propose effective solutions.
· Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using advanced test equipment and systematic reasoning to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
· Code Compliance: Ensure all electrical work strictly complies with the NEC, California Electrical Code (CEC), and all applicable state and local building regulations; actively manage inspections and secure sign-offs.
· Cal/OSHA Safety: Adhere to, enforce, and champion all Cal/OSHA Title 8 regulations and company safety policies, including PPE use, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, fall protection, and the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections.
· Material Management: Estimate materials needed for assigned jobs, maintain accurate inventory of tools and supplies, and ensure timely procurement to avoid project delays.
· Documentation & Reporting: Complete daily work logs, material usage reports, T&M tracking, personnel records, and any required inspection or permit documentation accurately and on time. Provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Active and valid California General Electrician Certification (or applicable category) issued by the California DLSE Electrician Certification Unit is required, per California Labor Code §108.2. A valid California C-10 contractor's license is highly desirable but not required. Minimum of 7–10 years of documented, hands-on experience in commercial, industrial, or residential electrical work, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or foreman capacity managing projects.
Language Ability:
· Reads and interprets complex electrical blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and California Title 24 specifications.
· Communicates effectively and professionally with project managers, Cal/OSHA inspectors, subcontractors, clients, and team members.
· Prepares accurate written work logs, inspection reports, material requisitions, and personnel documentation.
· Delivers clear verbal instructions, safety briefings, and constructive feedback to field staff.
· Ability to communicate in English is required; bilingual (English/Spanish) ability is highly preferred.
Math / Reasoning Ability:
· Calculates load requirements, wire sizing, conduit fill, and voltage drop with accuracy per NEC and CEC standards.
· Interprets electrical formulas and applies them to complex installation scenarios.
· Estimates material quantities, labor hours, and overall project costs for T&M scopes.
· Solves complex troubleshooting and logistical problems using systematic diagnostic and critical reasoning.
Computer Skills:
· Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and laptops for work order management, scheduling, and digital documentation.
· Familiarity with field service management and project management software (e.g., ServiceTitan, Procore) is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides direct on-site supervision, leadership, and mentorship to Journeymen, Electrician Apprentices (Certified and Non-Certified), and Electrician I/II personnel. Responsibilities include task delegation, safety oversight, quality control, on-the-job training, scheduling, and handling personnel issues. Reports overall project performance and significant personnel concerns to the Project Manager. Per California Labor Code §108.2, ensures all Electrician Trainees and Apprentices work under the direct supervision of a California-certified electrician at all times.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily on active construction and renovation job sites throughout California in both indoor and outdoor environments. The Electrician Foreman may be exposed to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, and energized electrical systems. SASS Electric Inc. maintains an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) per Cal/OSHA §3203. Physical Demands
· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.

· Must be able to work in confined spaces and tight areas.
· Cal/OSHA-required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots) required at all job sites.
· Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
