Counter Sales Associate (Full-Time) – Lakeville, CT
Ed Herrington, Inc. is seeking a full-time Counter Sales Representative to join our team at our Lakeville, Connecticut location (11 Farnum Road, Lakeville, CT). This position offers a daytime schedule of Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, plus every other Saturday from 7:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Position Summary
The Counter Sales Associate serves as a key point of contact for customers, providing knowledgeable product recommendations, processing sales transactions, and helping maintain an organized and well-stocked retail environment. This role requires a customer-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and supporting both retail and professional contractor customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers at the building products and paint counters.
- Greet customers and determine their product needs.
- Promote featured products and special programs.
- Answer phone inquiries, process orders, and provide product information.
- Recommend products and solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Prepare paint orders to customer specifications.
- Process sales, quotations, delivery orders, and special orders.
- Research product availability and source non-stock items when appropriate.
- Operate and balance cash registers and process customer payments.
- Maintain store inventory through stocking, merchandising, and inventory control activities.
- Coordinate with management and receiving staff to organize overstock areas.
- Maintain clean, organized, and attractive sales and work areas.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and product offerings for customers.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Participate in company training programs and industry trade events.
- Demonstrate teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous retail sales, customer service, hardware, paint, or building materials experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale system skills.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
