We are seeking an experienced Rehab Technician to provide orientation, assessments, monitoring of participants in evaluation program, facilitate intakes, and provide support to participants transitioning or in competitive employment. The Awesome Things You’ll Do
- Pre-Employment Services: Review new referrals and send out start letters within five (5) business days upon scheduling with the Evaluator.
- Process and complete participant intakes, orientations, and referral documentation.
- Follow up with referrals who missed first and second scheduled appointments.
- Explain and review all Goodwill policies, procedures, participant expectations, and handbook information with new referrals and provide facility tours.
- Administer vocational evaluations, assessments, and testing based on participant interests, referral requests, and directions from the Vocational Evaluator or Coordinator.
- Score, compile, and maintain vocational testing materials and completed evaluation/observation summary reports.
- Complete daily case notes, progress reports, service plans, and all required documentation in a timely manner within agency electronic record systems.
- Assist in monitoring participant performance during onsite and community-based assessments, internships, and work experiences.
- Maintain accurate participant records, testing files, employment plans, and service documentation in audit-ready conditions.
- Conduct regular inventory of testing and training materials and request replacements as needed.
- Organize and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, appointments, and community visits.
- Complete Individual Program Plans and assist participants in identifying realistic vocational and employment goals.
- Facilitate group and individual Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) sessions focused on workplace readiness, self-advocacy, career exploration, communication, and independent living skills.
- Provide coaching and support to students and participants during work-based learning experiences, internships, job shadowing, and community employment activities.
- Assist participants with job exploration, career development, resume building, interview preparation, and employment readiness activities.
- Employment Services: Provide intensive on-the-job training and follow-along supports for participants placed into competitive employment settings.
- Support participants in achieving increased independence, workplace adjustment, and job retention.
- Contact employers to identify internship opportunities, job openings, and community-based work experiences aligned with participant employment goals.
- Maintain and develop positive working relationships with employers, referral agencies, schools, families, and community partners.
- Meet with employers and participants onsite to complete employer profiles, workplace observations, and task analysis documentation.
- Assist with activities, participant assessments, intake documentation, and placement planning.
- Provide ongoing communication and updates to referral sources, DVRS counselors, school personnel, employers, and program leadership as needed.
- Assist with transportation training coordination and support participants in accessing community resources and employment services.
- If fluent in another language, may be asked to provide translation support for participants and families as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with CARF standards and participate in CARF preparation, audits, and compliance activities.
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings, community events, and departmental meetings as required.
- Serve as a floater/generalist for Supported Employment and Youth Services programs to ensure continuity of services and coverage as needed.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by management to support program operations and participant success.
Activities are subject to change / be added to meet business needs with management approval.
Our Must Haves
HS Diploma or GED (minimum requirement); Associate degree preferred
Minimum 1–2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities, youth transition services, employment services, or community-based rehabilitation programs preferred.
Experience facilitating groups, employment support, job coaching, or vocational services strongly preferred.
Good oral and written communication skills and basic math skills.
Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook required.
Strong organizational, documentation, and time management Skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Valid NJ Driver’s License and reliable transportation preferred.
Special Working Conditions
Position is community-based & site based which requires frequent travel throughout Northern New Jersey.
Work schedules may include evenings, periodic weekends, community events, and coverage assignments as needed.
Worksites and community environments may vary based on participant and employer needs.
Must be able to stand, walk, travel between sites, and lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
