Job Summary
The CILA Nurse / Nurse Trainer is responsible for overseeing the health and nursing needs of individuals living in the CILA program. This position ensures that medical care, medication administration, staff training, documentation, and follow-up are completed in compliance with DHS/DDD, Rule 115/116, and agency requirements.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health, safety, and medical needs of individuals served.
- Review medical records, physician orders, medications, appointments, and follow-up recommendations.
- Coordinate care with doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, guardians, QIDP, DSPs, and leadership.
- Complete nursing assessments, health summaries, progress notes, and required documentation.
- Train and supervise DSP staff on medication administration, health protocols, seizure plans, diabetes care, diet orders, aspiration precautions, and other individual-specific needs.
- Serve as Nurse Trainer for authorized staff, if qualified and approved.
- Ensure medications are properly stored, documented, administered, and monitored.
- Review MARs, incident reports, medication errors, hospitalizations, and changes in condition.
- Participate in care planning, staff meetings, audits, surveys, and quality assurance reviews.
- Report health concerns, abuse, neglect, medication issues, or safety risks immediately according to agency policy.
Qualifications
- Current Illinois RN license required for Nurse Trainer role.
- LPN may be considered for CILA nursing duties if allowed by agency structure and regulations.
- Must meet Illinois Nurse Trainer requirements or be willing to complete required approval/training.
- Experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
- CILA, ICF/DD, home health, long-term care, or residential nursing experience preferred.
- Strong documentation, communication, training, and follow-up skills.
- Must pass required background checks and complete required trainings.
Schedule
Full-time or part-time, depending on program needs. Some flexibility may be required for trainings, medical follow-up, surveys, audits, and urgent health-related issues.
Pay: $33.92 - $45.85 per hour

Experience:
