Our laboratory supports a diverse and highly specialized portfolio including secondary pathology consultations, autopsy pathology, fresh tissue evaluation, organ procurement assessment, and molecular testing workflows that directly impact patient care and scientific discovery.
We are seeking a highly motivated, technically skilled Histotechnologist who is eager to grow professionally within a dynamic academic medical environment. This role is ideal for a histology professional who thrives in a fast-paced laboratory setting, values collaboration, and is passionate about delivering high-quality diagnostic support services.
The AMP Core Laboratory offers exposure to complex and challenging specimens, advanced histologic and molecular techniques, and close collaboration with pathologists, trainees, researchers, and transplant services. This position also participates in a rotational after-hours frozen section and organ procurement evaluation service for Mid-America Transplant Services. Additional compensation is provided for required on-call coverage.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares histology sections for examination by using tissue processing and frozen section technique to embed, cut, and stain tissue specimens.

Prepares and changes solutions and reagents.

Performs automated and manual immunohistochemistry assays.

Performs histochemical staining.

Gross biopsy specimens on an as needed basis.

Performs molecular pathology technical procedures.

Provides rotational frozen after-hour service for Mid-America Transplant Services.

Troubleshoots procedural and technical problems.

Help maintain supply and chemical inventories.

Applies standard operating procedures and protocols under the direction of the medical director, laboratory manager, or higher-level technologist.

Performs data entry of patient and specimen information and carefully documents all assays.

Complies with all regulatory requirements for patient testing and documentation with established safety procedures.

Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained and records kept in accordance with established procedures.

Acts as a technical resource for students, trainees and residents.

Assists supervisor with other duties and special projects as needed.
