In this role, you will provide 1:1 nursing support for either a 3-year-old student who is ventilator dependent or an 18-year-old student with tracheostomy needs. Your expertise and commitment will have a direct impact in helping students access their education safely and comfortably.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Previous experience with pediatric trach or vent cases highly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail
- Adaptable, with the ability to respond calmly and expertly to evolving health needs
- Effective communicator with students, families, and school staff
- CPR/BLS certification
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct 1:1 care, monitoring student health status and responding to complex medical needs during the school day
- Perform tracheostomy care and ventilator management including suctioning and emergency procedures as necessary
- Interface with educators, therapists, and families to coordinate comprehensive support plans
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety guidelines
- Participate in relevant professional development and collaborate with the broader school health team
