Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Licensed Optician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist members in choosing and ordering eyeglasses. Navigate the computer system to process orders, fit eyeglasses, dispense eyeglasses and contacts and oversee apprentices. In addition, you will provide prompt and courteous member service as well as follow department procedures for stocking and cleaning. Duties
- Assists members to choose eyeglass frames and lens options appropriate to the lens prescription.
- Provides and ensures prompt and courteous member service.
- Measures members for pupilary distance using pupilometer and observes line of sight to determine bifocal placement.
- Keys member orders into computer. Places special orders to outside vendors by telephone.
- Rings up orders and over-the counter merchandise. Receives accurate payment, makes change, processes checks, credit, and debit charges according to proper procedures for paperwork, cash handling, and performance duties.
- Checks contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against prescription prior to dispensing to member.
- Fits and adjusts eyeglasses to member using hand tools and frame warmer and bending with fingers.
- Orders equipment, merchandise, and supplies by keying into computer. Keys receipt of special orders from outside vendors.
- Follows safety and security procedures.
- Performs pre-exam testing, patient administrative support and other patient care duties as needed. (In selected warehouses, where allowed by state).
- Works in conjunction with the doctors to perform activities involving patient care, patient communication and other related activities. (In selected warehouses, where allowed by state).
- Collaborates on patient care with doctors to perform activities involving patient communication, pre-exam tests, contact lenses training (In selected warehouses, where allowed by state).
- Stocks merchandise and supplies. Follows department procedures and standards for production, record keeping, merchandising, and product storage.
- Cleans department by spraying, wiping, and mopping. Empties trash, operates trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
- Ability to operate vehicles, equipment, or machinery. Computer, phone, fax, copier, cash register, card board baler, trash compactor, hand held scanner, pupilometer, lensometer, frame warmer, small pliers, screwdriver, carts and flatbeds.
- Assists in other areas of the department as necessary.
- Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.
Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- ABO and NCLE certification required.
- Professionals HIPPA Training (prior to working in department).
- Hazard Communication and JHA (initial assignment), Costco Hazardous Materials DOT Training Course: Part 1 (within 30 days and then every year), Hazmat Universal Waste Training - Short Version (within 30 days and then every year), Option STOP Training (within 30 days).
- Must be current on annual safety training within 30 days of hire.
Pay: From $41.90 per hour
