Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Automotive Assistant Service Manager to join our fast-paced dealership team. In this vital role, you will support the Service Manager in overseeing daily operations of the service department, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and maintaining high standards of automotive repair and maintenance. Your expertise will help drive customer satisfaction, streamline workflow, and boost sales through effective upselling and technical knowledge. Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily service department operations, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and quality control
- Support service technicians with diagnostics, estimating repairs, and ensuring accurate service writing using estimating software
- Lead customer interactions by explaining repairs, recommending additional services, and ensuring clear communication throughout the service process
- Promote upselling of services such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, suspension work, transmissions, air brakes, shocks & struts, and collision repairs to maximize department revenue
- Oversee vehicle maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, suspension work, and other automotive repairs
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment in compliance with dealership standards
- Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed records of all service activities
Skills
- Proven experience as a service technician or in automotive repair with strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostics skills
- Familiarity with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Dealership experience preferred; knowledge of auto service management is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to clients
- Strong sales aptitude with experience in upselling additional services or parts
- Knowledge of automotive systems including transmissions, oil change procedures, air brakes, suspension components, tire services, shocks & struts, brake repair techniques
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed documentation
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles as needed
