Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses with a Class B CDL, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Transport students, seniors, or community members to and from designated locations punctually and securely.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure mechanical safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of all systems.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, parents, school staff, or care providers to ensure smooth operations and address any concerns.
- Manage behavior on the bus through positive behavior management techniques to promote a safe environment.
- Assist with loading and unloading passengers, including those with special needs or requiring childcare support.
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, passenger counts, and safety checks in compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement required.
- Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred; familiarity with school bus driving is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are an advantage for serving diverse communities.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts to perform routine vehicle inspections and minor troubleshooting.
- Experience working with children or seniors demonstrates your ability to handle diverse passenger needs compassionately.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and adherence to traffic laws.
