Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor to join our dynamic mental health team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive behavioral health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and adults. Your expertise will support individuals facing mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. Duties
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to inform treatment planning.
- Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA).
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute behavioral or emotional episodes effectively while ensuring patient safety.
- Facilitate telehealth therapy sessions to expand access to mental health services across various settings.
- Develop and monitor personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards and HIPAA regulations to ensure quality care and compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records, clinical documentation, and progress notes within electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems following HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide specialized counseling for populations with unique needs such as children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), individuals with PTSD or trauma histories, those experiencing grief or loss, and patients with co-occurring disorders.
- Engage in ongoing research and professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health, ICD coding updates, and emerging therapeutic modalities.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives and case management activities aimed at improving access to mental health resources.
Experience
- Proven experience providing psychotherapy or clinical counseling across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, or individuals with disabilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in crisis management, trauma-focused therapy, grief counseling, addiction counseling, and behavior management techniques.
- Hands-on experience working within hospital or outpatient settings utilizing ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for diagnosis documentation.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and delivering remote mental health services effectively.
- Strong background in clinical documentation standards, treatment planning, medical terminology, and medical records management.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), psychodynamic approaches, art therapy or dance/movement therapy is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving co-occurring disorders with sensitivity and professionalism while adhering to clinical ethical guidelines including HIPAA compliance.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
