Under the direct supervision of the Finance Director, initiates, processes, and maintains records of a variety of financial transactions focused on accounts payable processing and associated tasks including reviewing transactions for documentation of obligation, payment authorization, timely payment, and accurate recording; confers with vendors. May assist in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures related to accounts payable and purchasing. May cross-train in other Finance Department activities to provide back-up to other functions; serves as backup for all payroll functions in the absence of the payroll specialist as assigned, and assists with payroll on an as-needed basis.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. Education and Experience: a. Associates Degree in business, finance, accounting or similar field; AND b. Four (4) years’ related experience; OR c. An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the essential functions of the position. 2. Must possess and maintain a valid, New Mexico Class D driver’s license and be insurable by the City’s vehicle insurance provider.
A background investigation will be required for this position.
