Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, accounts payable, cash management, reconciliations, and month-end close support. This role helps ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately, deadlines are met, reporting is organized, and accounting processes support timely and reliable financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the accounts payable process, including monitoring the shared AP inbox, reviewing vendor invoices, entering invoices into the accounting system, and maintaining accurate records.
- Prepare weekly payment runs, coordinate approvals, process electronic payments, and record payments accurately in the general ledger.
- Retrieve and process incoming payments, prepare bank deposits, and support routine cash management activities.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and third-party payment platforms on a regular basis and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process through preparation of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Manage complex internal and external reporting, including preparing invoices and organizing supporting documentation.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll, prepaid expenses, intercompany activity, fixed assets, and other recurring accounting transactions.
- Assist with sales and use tax calculations, filings, and related account reconciliations.
- Support preparation of internal financial reports and research account variances or unusual activity.
- Maintain organized accounting documentation and provide support for audits, tax workpapers, and external accountant requests.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, strengthen internal controls, and document standard operating procedures.
- Lead by example through strong organization, accountability, and consistent follow-through on assignments and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and month-end close support.
- Experience with accounting software such as Profit 21, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar systems.
- Strong Excel skills, including reconciliations, sorting/filtering, v/x look ups and basic reporting analysis.
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated ownership, reliability, and follow-through.
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with vendors, team members, managers, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a small or mid-sized business environment with broad exposure to multiple accounting functions.
- Familiarity with sales tax filings, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
