What You Will Do (Job Responsibilities)
As the Quality & Engineering Manager, you will bridge the gap between design, production, and compliance. You will lead the charge in managing our world-class quality systems and engineering-related activities for both internally designed and customer-supplied products. Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Quality Systems Oversight: Establish, implement, and maintain our quality management systems to meet strict ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D standards.
- Compliance & Security: Assist in maintaining and ensuring operational compliance with CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) and defense-related security standards.
- Training & Resources: Ensure adequate resources are available to provide comprehensive training to new and existing team members on quality systems, 6S, and compliance procedures.
- Engineering Management: Establish the methods and secure the resources needed to keep our engineering, fabrication, and machining functions running at peak efficiency.
- Risk & Cost Control: Manage engineering activities to proactively control risks, reduce design and quality costs, and continuously improve product manufacturability.
- Customer & Design Collaboration: Analyze customer-supplied designs to recommend improvements that boost product reliability and lower costs; provide expert design assistance for new product introductions.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a highly related technical field.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality or engineering management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Direct, hands-on experience working within AS9100 (aerospace/defense QMS) and ISO 9001 frameworks.
- Working knowledge of CMMC frameworks, government compliance, or secure data handling.
- Skills:
- Technical expertise in reading and interpreting complex engineering designs.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and team empowerment.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with both shop-floor employees and external customers/defense auditors.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Physical Ability: Frequently stand or sit; regularly use hands to handle tools or controls; and talk/hear. Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Vision: Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Environment: Primarily office/engineering environment with regular presence on the manufacturing floor. This includes occasionally working near moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to hot/cold temperatures, and a moderate to loud noise level.
