Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and safety-conscious Pit Loader Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery and loaders to efficiently load, move, and manage materials at the construction site’s pit area. Your expertise will ensure smooth operations, adherence to safety standards, and timely completion of excavation and utility work. Duties
- Operate loaders, excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment with precision and safety awareness
- Load materials onto trucks or into designated areas efficiently while adhering to project specifications
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance
- Assist with excavation activities, including site grading, utility locating, horizontal drilling, and paving operations
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times during operations
- Coordinate with team members to execute construction utility work and site preparation tasks effectively
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and operational reports
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as loaders, excavators, dozers, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on construction equipment
- Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and safety procedures for heavy equipment operation
- Construction site experience with utility locating, excavation, grading, paving, or horizontal drilling preferred
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving is highly desirable
- Knowledge of construction utility work including water trucks, tankers, and paving operations is a plus
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work safely in a fast-paced environment
