Overview
The Family Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning and executing academic, social and emotional support programs for pediatric oncology patients, survivors, their siblings and parents. Examples of such programs include movie nights, camp days, “smile celebrations” (birthday parties and treatment milestone celebrations), holiday events, virtual programs, support groups, caregiver retreats, and more. The position requires attendance at all Cool Kids family programs, including those that occur on weekends and evenings. The Family Program Coordinator will report directly to the Family Program Manager.
Duties
- Determine family needs and develop engaging family programming aligned with the mission and values of Cool Kids Campaign
- Coordinate logistics for on-site and off-site family programs
- Identify, source, and secure all vendors (venues, entertainment, transportation, catering, activities, etc.)
- Secure volunteers to provide support during family programs
- Plan and procure all necessary supplies, decorations, materials and equipment needed for activities
- Attend all family programs to execute set-up, facilitate activities, coordinate logistics, and clean-up
- Assist with coordinating tutoring services for Cool Kids
- Coordinate and manage scheduling for families staying at the organization’s vacation condo, provide clear communication regarding check-in/check-out procedures, condo guidelines, and expectations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families before, during, and after their stay at the vacation condo- addressing questions, concerns, and logistical needs (coordinating with internal staff & external partners as needed)
- Assist the Family Program Manager to create a strategy to increase referrals and enroll more families across Maryland and Washington, DC.
- Develop a family resource page for the Cool Kids Campaign website
- Collaborate with other local and national non-profit organizations to build partnerships and plan joint programs/events
- Delegate tasks/assignments and assist with supervising student interns
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Family & Human Services, Child Life, Social Work, Child Psychology, Elementary level Teacher, or related field is preferred
- Must have experience developing and implementing activities, programs and events
- Experience working with children with complex medical needs, behavioral differences, and/or cognitive disabilities is preferred
- Must have a strong passion to help childhood cancer patients/survivors and their families
- Must be comfortable initiating proactive outreach to Cool Kids families, hospital employees, venues, vendors, and other organizations
- Must be highly strategic and able to assist with developing a plan to increase referrals and program attendance
- Must be a self-starter who thinks creatively and shows a high level of initiative
- Willingness to develop unique and engaging programs and take them to new locations
- Willingness to lead programs on weekends and evenings
- Must be driven to help Cool Kids achieve its fundraising and programmatic goals
- Strong organization and administrative ability to manage multiple tasks; detail oriented and strong ability to follow up
- Must be able to work at times with minimal supervision or direction; ability to work independently
- Must demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Must demonstrate excellent communication, analytical, writing and editing skills
- Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with the ability to create and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations
- Must be familiar with the utilization of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, Tik Tok, Linked In) and graphics platforms such as Canva

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
