Duties
- Travel to patient locations, including homes, clinics, and healthcare facilities, to perform blood draws and specimen collection
- Collect, label, and process specimens following strict aseptic techniques and laboratory protocols
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient physiology to ensure safe and effective procedures
- Maintain detailed documentation of all specimen collection activities within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems
- Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and transportation to the laboratory for analysis
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and demonstrating sensitivity to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics
- Adhere to safety standards such as basic life support (BLS) and CPR, especially during patient interactions involving vulnerable populations
- Assist with data entry related to specimen tracking and patient information accuracy while maintaining confidentiality
Requirements
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, phlebotomy, or clinical laboratory work with knowledge of venipuncture techniques
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, specimen collection/processing, and blood sampling protocols
- Certification or training in phlebotomy, CPR, BLS, or equivalent medical life support certifications preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation purposes
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory practices
- Ability to lift heavy equipment or specimens safely while maintaining proper body mechanics
- Experience working in hospital settings or healthcare environments is highly desirable
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for travel between locations
- Must have pediatric and adult phlebotomy experience
