Title:
Position Summary: Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing High School Biology Teacher to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our high school learners. This is a 0.75 position for first quarter of the school year (until November 2, 2026).
Key Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

Create an environment of belonging that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth

Embrace and support the diversity of all students, ensuring equitable access to learning
-
Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards, including SEL integration
-
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction, materials, and assessments to meet diverse learning needs
-
Maintain high expectations for all students and provide appropriate supports to ensure success
-
Collaborate regularly with colleagues
-
Work closely with special education, ESL, counseling staff, METCO, Academic Support staff, and administration to support all learners

Communicate proactively and effectively with families/caregivers regarding student progress and development
-
Participate actively in school and district initiatives, goals, and professional development

Stay current with best practices in content area instruction and high school pedagogy
-
Support efforts to address systemic barriers and promote equity within the school community
-
Perform teaching all classes assigned by the Principal or department head and carry out other essential duties as may be required
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 1–3 years of successful classroom teaching preferred
-
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in content area or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
-
MA DESE Licensure in applicable content area or eligibility required
-
SEI Endorsement required
-
Knowledge of adolescent development (academic, social, and emotional)
-
Experience with student-centered teaching practices and heterogeneous classrooms
-
Familiarity with Massachusetts Standards-Based Curriculum, UDL, and SEL practices
-
Proficiency with instructional technology, specifically the use of dynamic graphing software and 1:1 classroom environments

Experience working with students with disabilities and/or English language learners preferred

Experience with Google Suite and PowerSchool preferred

Bilingual (Spanish) candidates strongly encouraged to apply
Salary Range:
Commensurate with district long-term sub pay.
Work Schedule:
From August 27, 2026 to November 2, 2026 (first quarter) of the 2026–2027 School Year.
