Overview
We’re looking for an experienced barista who takes real pride in their craft and understands that hospitality comes first. Our café is a high-volume West Village shop where speed, quality, and standards matter equally. We move with urgency, but never at the expense of consistency or guest experience. The right person thrives in that balance. This is a tipped job position.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of café experience
- 1+ year in specialty coffee
- Confident dialing in espresso and adjusting throughout service
- Familiar with batch brew and drip coffee equipment
- Able to learn and execute house recipes for syrups, teas, and specialty beverages
- Committed to memorizing ingredients and allergens across all menu items
- Calm and efficient in high-volume environments
- Naturally warm, guest-focused, and community-minded
- Knowledgeable about store policies and comfortable communicating them clearly
- Genuinely curious — always looking to improve technique, workflow, and coffee knowledge. Promote creativity and innovation!
- Approach change with confidence and enthusiasm
You care about the details. You wipe counters and clear tables without being asked. You restock before it’s empty. You taste the espresso. You notice when your teammate needs support. You are punctual. You understand that small things create great service.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for the café, creating a welcoming and professional first impression
- Prepare specialty beverages with precision, speed, and consistency
- Deliver thoughtful, knowledgeable service to regulars and new guests alike
- Maintain a clean, organized station at all times
- Follow DOH standards for labeling, dating, storage, and rotation
- Communicate clearly and support the team during peak periods
- Execute opening and closing procedures with care
