Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will be the face of our deli department, ensuring that customers receive friendly service while maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. Your culinary skills and sales expertise will help create a welcoming environment where customers feel valued and satisfied.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble deli products with precision, following food safety guidelines and recipes
- Serve customers efficiently at the deli counter, providing product recommendations and upselling when appropriate
- Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for retail sales transactions, cash handling, and order processing
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including food handling, bussing, and sanitation practices
- Manage inventory levels by restocking deli items and rotating products to ensure freshness
- Assist with food safety management by adhering to sanitation standards and proper food handling procedures
- Support the overall operation of the deli department by collaborating with team members and ensuring a positive shopping experience
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, food service, or retail sales transactions within a grocery or quick service environment
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for efficient cashiering and sales processing
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell products confidently
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory management
- Previous experience in culinary roles or restaurant environments is highly desirable
