THE WORK

Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify the validity of medical record requests, including authorizations, subpoenas, and court orders
- Greet patients and visitors to the department; assist with completion of medical record authorization forms
- Process and release patient health information in a timely and secure manner
- Utilize Epic and other hospital systems to locate, retrieve, and document patient information
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to releasing records
- Retrieve radiology films by walking to and from the Radiology Film Department as needed
- Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls; return voicemails promptly and professionally
- Perform clerical and medical receptionist duties as assigned
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to accept additional duties within the scope of the role
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Epic’s ROI module
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Professional, empathetic face-to-face customer service
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Ability to operate office equipment, including fax machines, copiers, and microfilm machines
Preferred:
- Prior experience in Release of Information (ROI) or a medical office setting
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations
