Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks and other commercial vehicles with manual transmissions to deliver goods across designated routes.
- Load and unload products using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual lifting techniques, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols.
- Plan efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and meet delivery schedules.
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting clients professionally, answering questions, and addressing concerns courteously.
- Verify delivery contents against invoices or packing lists before loading and after unloading to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and delivery records for accountability.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist in warehouse tasks such as inventory management, moving stock within the facility, or preparing shipments for delivery when needed.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during route driving to ensure safety for yourself and others.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery status or any unforeseen delays or issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably with route driving experience in a commercial setting.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or similar vehicles with manual transmissions is highly desirable.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely; experience with heavy lifting, moving, forklift operation, or pallet jacks is a plus.
- Warehouse experience including loading/unloading goods and managing inventory is advantageous.
- Familiarity with route planning tools or GPS navigation systems to optimize deliveries.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to driving and material handling equipment like forklifts is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and time management skills.
