I-Matter is seeking an experienced, organized, and community-oriented Rehabilitation Specialist to supervise Therapeutic Rehabilitation Coordinators and ensure that child-and-family PRP services remain skill-based, family-centered, safe, and compliant.
This is not an office-only supervisory position. The Rehabilitation Specialist must be willing to observe services in clients’ homes and community settings, facilitate groups, coach staff in real time, review documentation, and respond when staff or clients require additional support.
The ideal candidate can balance two responsibilities:
- Developing TRCs into competent, accountable rehabilitation practitioners
- Protecting the quality, scope, documentation integrity, and safety of the PRP
What You Will Do:
- Provide structured individual supervision, team huddles, coaching, and performance feedback
- Validate new TRC competencies through I-Matter’s 30/60/90-day orientation process
- Observe TRCs during office, home, and community-based services
- Help TRCs strengthen client engagement, family collaboration, professional boundaries, documentation, time management, and community safety
- Identify whether a concern reflects a skill gap, system gap, or performance issue, and implement the appropriate support pathway
- Document supervision, coaching, retraining, and follow-up consistently
Protect PRP Scope and Service Quality
- Ensure services remain psychiatric rehabilitation—not psychotherapy, unstructured companionship, or substitute case-management activity
- Confirm that TRC interventions teach, model, practice, or reinforce functional skills connected to the client’s rehabilitation plan
- Identify and correct therapy-like language, vague service descriptions, unsupported billing, and scope drift
- Ensure services are individualized and responsive to the client’s age, family context, functioning, strengths, and rehabilitation needs
Review Documentation and Utilization
- Review progress notes, intake documentation, needs assessments, crisis plans, DLA-20s, IRPs, collaboration notes, group notes, trackers, and discharge documentation
- Verify that documentation is timely, accurate, measurable, and connected to the client’s rehabilitation goals
- Identify recurring patterns and provide corrective learning—not merely individual note corrections
- Partner with QA/UR and the PRP Program Director on audits, remediation, and sustained improvement
- Monitor whether assigned services, visit settings, service frequency, and documented interventions are consistent with program expectations
Facilitate Groups and Program Activities
- Develop and facilitate structured psychiatric rehabilitation groups
- Ensure groups have a defined skill-building purpose, age-appropriate activities, participant engagement strategies, and compliant documentation
- Coach TRCs who facilitate or co-facilitate groups
- Support office-based engagement days, community activities, outings, and family-focused programming
- Evaluate whether groups and activities meaningfully support rehabilitation goals rather than functioning as recreation alone
Support Community-Based and Family-Centered Care
- Complete in-home and community-based observations and services as assigned
- Work effectively with children, adolescents, caregivers, families, schools, therapists, and community partners
- Maintain appropriate boundaries while communicating clearly and respectfully with families
- Model safe community-based practice, environmental awareness, de-escalation, and proper escalation
- Support evening and weekend services based on participant and program needs
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation throughout employment
Participate in Required Meetings and Training
- Attend and participate in Thursday Treatment Team Meetings from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
- Attend required supervision, QA, program-development, and leadership meetings
- Attend quarterly in-person staff meetings held on the first Saturday of the designated month
- Maintain annual competencies and all required organizational, safety, compliance, and infection-prevention training
- Support staff training in PRP scope, documentation, groups, family engagement, crisis response, and supported-employment skill building
Required Qualifications
- Current Child and Family Resiliency Practitioner certification (CFRP) issued by the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association
- CFRP must be active and in good standing and must remain current throughout employment
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct-care experience working with youth who have serious emotional or behavioral health needs
- Demonstrated experience designing, facilitating, or co-facilitating psychoeducational, rehabilitation, behavioral-health, family, or life-skills groups
- Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation, community behavioral health, youth services, family services, or a closely related setting
- Ability to supervise, coach, and evaluate direct-care staff
- Ability to review behavioral-health documentation and communicate corrections clearly
- Ability to work required evening and weekend hours
- Willingness and ability to complete in-home and community-based visits
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle with current registration and insurance
- Ability to maintain required driver and insurance documentation
- Ability and willingness to comply with I-Matter’s annual influenza-vaccination policy, subject to legally required accommodation
- Proficiency with electronic health records, email, spreadsheets, video meetings, and routine office technology
- Ability to protect confidential information and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
- Prior supervisory, lead-worker, training, or preceptor experience
- Experience with Maryland PRP documentation and Medicaid-related service standards
- Experience working with both youth and caregivers in home and community settings
- Experience completing or reviewing rehabilitation needs assessments, crisis plans, IRPs, DLA-20s, progress notes, collaboration notes, and discharge documentation
- Experience responding to QA findings and developing remediation or learning plans
- Experience with supported-employment or vocational skill-building services
- Strong group-management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to think beyond standard solutions while remaining within policy, role, and safety boundaries
- Strong organization, follow-through, and written communication
- Ability to work autonomously while keeping the Program Director appropriately informed
- Interest in future advancement to PRP Program Director or broader program leadership
