Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility using appropriate manual handling and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support clinical staff by preparing treatment areas, maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or medication administration, and assisting with basic life support (BLS) when needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure clear understanding of care plans and patient needs.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines diligently to maintain patient confidentiality and safeguard sensitive medical records.
- Assist with specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Support a variety of clinical environments such as medical-surgical units, ICU, emergency medicine departments, pediatrics, geriatrics, hospice care, or behavioral health settings.
Experience
- Prior experience working in hospital medicine, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities or home & community care environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience with critical care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers enhances your ability to handle complex patient needs confidently.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection control practices including aseptic technique and heavy lifting safety is essential.
- Certification in CPR/BLS is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or DME (Durable Medical Equipment) training are a plus.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health challenges enriches your caregiving skills.
- Familiarity with pediatric or geriatric patient populations supports diverse clinical roles across multiple healthcare settings.
