Stage FX is looking for an experienced Project Manager to help plan, quote, coordinate, and execute live event and temporary structure projects.
This is not a traditional office-only project management position. We need someone who understands what it takes to get a job from the initial quote through load-in, event execution, strike, and final job closeout.
Our projects involve staging, temporary structures, scaffold, trucking, labor, equipment, vendors, tight schedules, and constantly changing event conditions. The right person needs to be organized, technically capable, comfortable making decisions, and accountable for both the execution and profitability of their projects.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Manage projects from initial quote through completion
- Prepare estimates and customer quotes
- Build equipment and pull sheets
- Determine labor requirements and coordinate crews
- Coordinate trucking, freight, deliveries, and pickups
- Schedule equipment and confirm availability
- Coordinate subcontractors, rentals, and outside vendors
- Review drawings, site information, schedules, and project requirements
- Communicate directly with customers throughout the project
- Identify scope changes and make sure change orders are documented and billed
- Track project costs against the original estimate
- Monitor labor hours, trucking costs, rentals, travel, and other project expenses
- Coordinate load-ins and strikes with field supervisors and crews
- Troubleshoot issues as projects change in real time
- Close out completed projects and review estimated versus actual costs
- Help identify ways to improve efficiency and project margins
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with experience in one or more of the following:
- Live events
- Staging
- Temporary structures
- Scaffold
- Rigging
- Concert or festival production
- Corporate event production
- AV production
- Tent or event rental
- Scenic production
- Convention or trade show production
Prior experience as a Project Manager, Production Manager, Technical Director, Operations Manager, Project Coordinator, or similar position is preferred.
Field experience is highly valued. Someone who has worked hands-on in live events or temporary structures and transitioned into project management can be an excellent fit.
You Should Be Able To
- Read and understand project plans, drawings, and technical information
- Build realistic labor and trucking plans
- Understand overtime, travel, equipment, freight, and rental costs
- Manage several projects at the same time without losing track of details
- Communicate professionally with customers, crews, vendors, and management
- Make decisions quickly when conditions change
- Recognize when something is outside the original scope and requires a change order
- Understand the difference between completing a project and completing a project profitably
- Take ownership of problems instead of waiting for someone else to solve them
What Success Looks Like
We are not looking for someone who simply gets the event completed.
A successful Project Manager at Stage FX delivers the project safely, keeps the customer informed, manages the crew and equipment efficiently, captures changes in scope, and protects the projected gross margin of the job.
You will be expected to understand what a project was estimated to cost and compare that against what it actually cost when the project is completed.
Schedule & Travel
Live events do not always happen Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
This position may require:
- Early mornings
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Travel
- On-site project support during critical load-ins or strikes
The Project Manager is not expected to be on every jobsite, but must be available and engaged when their projects require it.
Why Stage FX

If you have experience managing live events, staging, temporary structures, scaffold, rigging, or similar projects, we would like to hear from you.
