Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator
Location: Aurora, CO
Job Type: Full -Time | Hybrid (Remote Work Not Offered)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Occasional Weekends (as needed) | 40 hours
Pay: Starting at$90,000/annually
Casa Loma College is seeking a Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator who will be responsible for executing the duties and responsibilities in alignment with the nursing education simulation lab policies and procedures outlined by the Colorado State Board of Nursing and all other accrediting agencies, this includes but is not limited to student activities with clinical simulation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator will play a vital role in enhancing student learning by ensuring the effective operation of simulation-based education and training. The Nursing Simulation Lab Coordinator will collaborate with the Academic Clinical Coordinator for Education (ACCE)/Clinical Coordinator and faculty to integrate simulation into the curriculum, maintain simulation equipment, and facilitate realistic clinical scenarios that prepare students for real-world nursing practice. This role will oversee the Clinical Skills Lab collaborating with faculty to provide appropriate clinical skills training for all courses. This position will report to the Nursing Director and works in conjunction with the Nursing Clinical Coordinator (ACCE).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute the daily operations of the nursing clinical simulation lab, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
- Implement, and evaluate simulation scenarios.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain simulation equipment, including manikins, software, and audio-visual systems.
- Provide training and support to faculty in the use of simulation technology and best practices in simulation-based education.
- Schedule and coordinate simulation sessions, ensuring alignment with course objectives.
- Monitor student performance during simulations and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Maintain an inventory of simulation supplies and equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements, as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements related to simulation education.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data related to student performance and program effectiveness.
- Participate in evaluation activities for assigned courses.
- Maintain the Nursing Skills Lab, equipment, and supplies.
- Teach the lab portion of assigned courses.
- Contribute to the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of the Nursing Programs.
- Participate in faculty meetings and assigned committee meetings. Perform various committee tasks as needed.
- Maintain professional competence by participating in ongoing clinical practice, continuing education, and professional conferences relevant to faculty responsibilities and clinical and simulation specialty areas.
- Uphold ethical and personal standards as described in The Code for Professional Nurses published by the Colorado Board of Nursing.
- Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the director of nursing and campus director.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 (three) years of professional nursing experience in an assigned nursing specialty to demonstrate professional competence
- Simulation experience
Required Skills
- Must possess a Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation; and
- Hold a current, unencumbered nursing license with privileges to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Colorado
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in simulation-based education or healthcare simulation.
- Certification in Simulation Education (e.g., CHSE)
- Doctorate in Nursing
