The Cafeteria Aide at Stony Brook University Hospital is an ancillary employee who performs various retail services, including accurate preparation, serving, and storage of food, general sanitation, cleaning, and use of kitchen equipment, servicing customers, and focusing on customer service.
\*\*Essential Position: This position is considered "Essential". The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather of other conditions.

Pay Rate: $24.23 per hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Part-time; Various hour/Various Shifts - Flexibility a must, weekends and holidays required. MUST be available afternoons/evenings.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in retail or food service
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English, follow written and verbal instructions, and complete simple computational skills
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
- Ability to meet acceptable background check standards
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the healthcare environment
Program/Department Responsibilities:
- Accurately portion and serve food, quickly and accurately
- Safely transport garbage and recyclable material to assigned areas..
- Accurately inventory and maintain necessary supplies to ensure the efficiency of retail operation
- Date, label, and rotate stock
- Complete food temperature control logs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
