Metro Ready Mix, LC. is part of Metro Pavers, Inc., a local, family owned and operated paving company that has been in business since 1966. We are looking for both Class A and Class B CDL drivers to join our team. Our drivers stay in the corridor area, so they are home every night.
As a driver at Metro Ready Mix you will have the opportunity to drive many different vehicles. Depending on which class your license is and what endorsements you have you may drive the following:
- Dump Truck (Class A&B)
- Side Dump (Class A)
- Concrete Mixer (Class A&B)
- Tractor Trailer/Tanker (Class A)
- Water Truck (Class A&B)
You may also operate equipment:

Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license, with acceptable driving record.
- Class A or Class B
- Tanker endorsement -preferred
- Double/Triple Trailer -advantageous
Must not have any of the following restrictions;
- Airbrake
- Automatic
- Nighttime driving
- Adheres to all OSHA and DOT regulations, and Metro Ready Mix policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required. (Metro Group utilizes E-Verify)
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
- Must pass a background check.
- Ability to obtain a security badge at the Eastern Iowa Airport is necessary.
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification – must have or be willing to get. (The company will provide)
- First Aid/CPR and BBP certification – must have or be willing to get. (The company will provide)
- Availability to work over 40 hours per week, including weekends if necessary for the job, is essential.
- Demonstrates strong work ethics, reliability, honesty, attention to detail, organizational skills, and self-motivation.
- Attention to detail, safety, and quality are imperative.
- Obligated to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary for the job function, as required by Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA regulations.
- Required to wear work boots/concrete boots in accordance with OSHA and industry standards.

- Capable of physically performing all tasks required for the pre/post trip inspections.

- Sitting, Standing, climbing, squatting and/or walking for extended times.
- Occasionally reading fine print.
- Viewing indirect and direct sunlight.
- Working regularly on a cell phone, computer and/or tablet.
- Being exposed to outdoor elements (hot and cold) for extended times.
- Occasionally working from levels over 4 feet from the ground (such as a ladder).
