Responsibilities
- Safely operate truck with flatbeds, on over-the-road (OTR) routes to deliver freight efficiently.
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure timely pickups and deliveries across multiple locations.
- Load and unload freight manually or with equipment, ensuring cargo is handled according to logistics cargo handling standards.
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles, ensuring all safety features are operational and documenting any issues.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, or any incidents during transit.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for HotShot operation.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazard materials regulations, DOT regulations, and safety standards for truck loading/unloading.
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks safely.
- Strong navigation skills using GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance; previous experience with freight or hazardous goods is a plus.
