Position: Emotional Teacher - Lower School Program
Position Schedule: 10 month schedule; Monday thru Friday; 7 hours per day
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s Degree in Special Education strongly preferred.
Certification: Must have Pennsylvania Special Education Certification. Must have Elementary Education Certification in the State of Pennsylvania. Certification in an area of behavior management a plus.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working with and supervising paraprofessional staff. A minimum 2 years of experience teaching students with significant social and emotional needs required.
PROFESSIONAL DUTIES:
- Develops an individualized education plan (IEP) based on each student’s current education needs. Ensures the IEP is implemented with integrity, revises plan when required and in accordance with regulations.
- Requests further educational assessment information when needed from educational specialists or consultative assistance from related services and support staff. We have an impressive clinical team.
- Provides individual assistance and direction to students in learning, counseling, and classroom management situations.
- Maintains assessment and evaluation information and a current copy of the IEP for each assigned student in classroom files for use in planning instruction.
- Shares IEP information with Instructional Coordinator(s) and/or 1:1 staff; makes certain that said staff clearly understands their IEP responsibilities; maintains appropriate documentation.
- Prepares classroom lesson plans, which clearly take into account student differences.
- Instructs assigned students according to the established IEP goals, designated objectives and Pennsylvania curriculum guidelines.
- Maintains appropriate classroom discipline.
- Monitors student progress on IEP goals and maintains a record of each student’s instruction, including IEP objectives mastered.
- Collects and maintains all appropriately student data as directed by his/her supervisor.
- Prepares, plans, and implements a therapeutic classroom.
- Participates in daily debriefing and planning with related service providers, instructional coordinator to include IEP team meeting and interagency meetings.
- Prepares for and contributes to student team meetings, parent-team conferences and IEP planning meetings.
- Participates in ongoing staff development training programs.
- Writes student progress reports.
- Requisitions textbooks, instructional materials and supplies as needed through established procedures.
- Contributes to in-service education programs at the request of an Educational Supervisor and/or the Educational Director.
- Participates in the development of curriculum, instructional materials and techniques.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
