Responsibilities
- Offer peer support services rooted in recovery principles, emphasizing hope, empowerment, and shared lived experience.
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and coping strategies using motivational interviewing techniques.
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management during urgent situations, ensuring safety and stabilization for clients.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care, document progress in electronic health record (EHR) systems, and track client outcomes.
- Mentor clients through behavioral health challenges, including mental health counseling and addiction counseling support.
- Educate clients on available community resources, social services, and support networks to promote independence.
- Maintain confidentiality while adhering to all policies related to social work practices and privacy regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist through the North Carolina Peer Support Board (NCCPSS).
- Lived experience and current sustained recovery with mental health conditions or substance use recovery that informs compassionate peer support.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health topics including mental health counseling, addiction counseling, and social work principles.
- Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate client engagement and motivation.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and communication purposes.
