Under the general supervision of the Transit Maintenance Supervisor, the Transit Vehicle Service Worker is responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior cleanliness and sanitation of transit fleet vehicles, as well as assisting maintenance personnel with routine inspections, fluid checks, and basic preventative maintenance. This position plays a key role in ensuring vehicles are clean, safe, and ready for service in compliance with regulatory and agency standards.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

Must maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment.

Must possess or be able to obtain a State of Alaska Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
Safety-Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to FTA and USDOT drug and alcohol testing regulations. Pre-employment testing and ongoing compliance with the Borough’s substance abuse policy is required. Applicants must sign a consent form authorizing the Borough to request DOT drug and alcohol testing records from former employers within the past two years. Failure to comply may result in revocation of a job offer.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Experience in vehicle detailing, janitorial work, or fleet cleaning operations preferred.

Specialized training or experience in vehicle maintenance or public transit operations is desirable.
